Becoming a Complete Grappler

Primary Blog/Becoming a Complete Grappler

To be a complete grappler is to transcend the limitations of specialization, striving for proficiency in both ground fighting and takedowns.

This aspiration stems from the understanding that neglecting either aspect is counterproductive in an art that places a premium on well-rounded skills.

In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where ground fighting is paramount, the absence of takedown skills creates a significant gap in one's martial arsenal.

Conversely, excelling in takedowns while neglecting ground fighting is equally detrimental.

The essence of being a complete grappler lies in finding harmony between these two dimensions, recognizing that mastery in one without competence in the other falls short of the art's true vision.

Becoming a complete grappler doesn't mandate expertise in every range of combat but emphasizes competence.

It's about closing gaps, ensuring that no aspect of the martial arts spectrum remains unexplored.

By embracing this philosophy, practitioners elevate their skills, embodying the essence of completeness in grappling mastery.

And remember, when you learn one technique you know one technique.
When you learn a concept you know a thousand techniques.

See you on the flipside. - Larry Keith

I want to share my methods with any other grapplers that wish to learn effective takedowns, but don’t know where to start.
