In the ever-evolving subject of grappling, the spotlight has shifted, and the current focal point is none other than the intriguing concept of takedowns in Jiu-Jitsu.
A sentiment echoed by many within the grappling community, the consensus is clear — takedowns have become the next horizon for the average Jiu-Jitsu practitioner to explore and conquer.
Reflecting on the evolution of skill gaps in the past, there was a time when leg locks took center stage as uncharted territory.
Fast forward to today, and the grappling community has embraced the intention to shore up this gap through focused leg lock training.
However, a new frontier has emerged — takedowns.
In the candid words of seasoned practitioners, the realization dawns that even those with a decade or more of grappling experience may find themselves functionally beginners in the realm of takedowns.
This revelation prompts a call to action — an effort to correct this gap and elevate the overall skill set to become a more complete grappler.
The opportunity to catch up and bridge this takedown gap lies within the intention to do so.
While the grappling community has admirably tackled leg locks with fervor, the same level of dedication and intention should be directed towards mastering the art of takedowns.
The next level awaits those willing to make the effort.
And remember, when you learn one technique you know one technique.
When you learn a concept you know a thousand techniques.
See you on the flipside. - Larry Keith

I have students ranging in age from 4 to 84.
At my dojo, we practice takedowns every day, safely and efficiently.
I want to share my methods with any other grapplers that wish to learn effective takedowns, but don’t know where to start.
